## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ON RUNWAY 21 WITH APPROXIMATELY 3000' OF RUNWAY REMAINING. DURING THE LANDING ROLL THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED A BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE AND THE AIRMAN WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT ON THE RUNWAY SURFACE. AS NOTED IN THE INITIAL VISUAL INSPECTION BY INSPECTORS ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THE BRAKE SYSTEM APPEARED TO BE IN A NORMAL CONDITION. HOWEVER, A SUBSEQUENT TEARDOWN OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM BY THE OWNER/BUILDER/PILOT OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED WORN PADS, ROTOR AND A FAILED CALIPER SEAL. SEE PICTURES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA08LA060](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA08LA060), Jan 14, 2008: DeSousa Jabiru J400 (N522RJ), Santa Monica, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to attain the proper touchdown point, and loss of the wheel brake system.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
