## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AT APPROXIMATELY 1625 MST ON JANUARY 24, 2008, THE PILOT OF N819C, A PIPER PA-32-301XTC, ABORTED THE LANDING ROLL MIDWAY DOWN RUNWAY 35 AT ANGEL FIRE AIRPORT (AXX), ANGEL FIRE, NM. AS THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED, BOTH MAIN LANDING GEAR LEGS IMPACTED THE PILED SNOW AND ICE THAT BORDERED THE WEST EDGE OF THE RUNWAY AND WERE SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT. WHEN INFORMED OF THE DAMAGE, THE PILOT ELECTED TO FLY THE AIRCRAFT TO TAOS, NM (SKX) WHERE HE MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING WITHOUT THE MAIN GEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN08CA051](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN08CA051), Jan 17, 2008: Piper PA-32-301XTC (N819C), Taos, NM, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's excessive airspeed during the approach and loss of control during the landing. Contributing factors were the mountain turbulence and the snowbank.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
