## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER TAKE OFF UNITED FLIGHT 4662 HAD A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE WITH LOSS OF COMMUNICATIONS AND INSTRUMENTS. LANDING GEAR WAS COMMANDED TO RETRACT BUT DID NOT. THE FIRST OFFICER'S PRIMARY FLIGHT DISPLAY WAS POWERED BUT HAD NO AIRSPEED OR AIR DATA INFORMATION. AFTER LANDING THE AC ESSENTIAL FEED WAS SELECTED TO ALTERNATE AND POWER WAS RESTORED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE COCKPIT. THE RAM AIR TURBINE (RAT) DID NOT DEPLOY WITH THE POWER LOSS AND THERE WAS A RAT FAULT DISPLAYED ON THE ELECTRONIC CENTRALIZED AIRCRAFT MONITORING (ECAM) AFTER POWER WAS RESTORED. THE STANDBY ATTITUDE INDICATOR ALSO FAILED AND NEVER RETURNED TO NORMAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DCA08IA033](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DCA08IA033), Jan 25, 2008: Airbus A320 (N462UA), Newark, NJ, incident, no damage. Probable cause: a fault in the airplane's AC 1 electrical bus that caused a number of other electrical busses on the aircraft to lose power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
