## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT AND PASSENGERS (2) BOARDED THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE INTENTION OF FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT START DUE TO A WEAK BATTERY. PILOT SET PARKING BRAKE AND INSTRUCTED THE PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT TO HOLD THE BRAKES WHILE HE ATTEMPTED TO HAND PROP THE AIRCRAFT. IT DID NOT START ON THE FIRST TRY AND THE PILOT SET THE THROTTLE TO ONE-THIRD OPEN. TRIED THE HAND PROP MANEUVER AGAIN AND THE ENGINE STARTED. THE PASSENGER FAILED TO PROPERLY APPLY BRAKE PRESSURE AND THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED AGGRESSIVELY TOWARD ADJACENT T-HANGARS WHERE IT COLLIDED WITH THE PARKED PIPER SARATOGA, N243PS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08CA089](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08CA089), Jan 30, 2008: Cessna 210G (N5825F), Bessemer, AL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to properly secure the airplane before attempting to hand-prop the engine.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
