## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT DEPARTED FROM RHV ON 2/4/2008 AT 06:30 AM PST, FOR TRK. UPON ARRIVAL, THE PILOT WAS ADVISED BY UNICOM THAT THE RUNWAY WAS BEING CLEARED OF SNOW AND WOULD BE OPEN IN 10 MINUTES. THE PILOT ELECTED TO CIRCLE THE AIRPORT UNTIL IT OPENED. WHEN UNICOM ADVISED THE RUNWAY WAS OPEN, A LANDING WAS INITIATED. ABEAM OF THE RUNWAY 28 THRESHOLD, THE PILOT ANNOUNCED HIS POSITION, EXTENDED FLAPS AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER TO IDLE. ON FINAL, THE PILOT STATED THAT HE STRUGGLED TO OBTAIN THE APPROPRIATE APPROACH SPEED AND ALTITUDE AND ENTERED A SLIP UNTIL THE GLIDE PATH LOOKED CORRECT. PRIOR TO LANDING, UNICOM ADVISED THE PILOT THAT HE WOULD NEED TO BACK TAXI TO ECHO. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE PILOT STATED HEARING THE PROPELLER STRIKING THE RUNWAY AS A UNICOM VOICE SCREECHED SOMETHING ABOUT THE GEAR. THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN ABOUT MIDFIELD AND SUBSEQUENTLY SLID DOWN THE SNOW AND ICE COVERED RUNWAY FOR APPROXIMATELY 1000 FEET. AFTER COMING TO A STOP, THE PILOT RETRACTED THE FLAPS, TURNED OFF THE MASTER AND RADIO SWITCHES, AND EXITED THE AIRCRAFT. IN A POST INCIDENT TELECOM HELD AT THE RENO FSDO ON 02/12/08, THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS NOT USING A WRITTEN CHECK LIST AND WAS LISTENING TO MUSIC WHEN LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
