## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) FROM ZAU: WW24, N403W, DEPARTED GSH FOR TUS. SBN APPROACH COORDINATED A 270 HEADING FOR WEATHER. N403W CHECKED ON FREQUENCY AND WAS ISSUED TRAFFIC AND ADVISED THAT HIGHER AND ON COURSE WOULD BE AVAILABLE WHEN CLEAR OF TRAFFIC. N403W STATED HE HAD A WINDSHIELD ISSUE AND WOULD ADVISE OF INTENTIONS. WHEN ASKED THE NATURE OF HIS PROBLEM HE SAID HIS OUTER WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED, THAT HE WOULD NOT BE CONTINUING TO TUS. N403W THEN REQUESTED A RETURN TO GSH AND THE NEED TO DUMP FUEL. BEARZ, CRIBB AND KELOW SECTORS WERE ADVISED THAT N403W WAS RETURNING TO GSH AND DUMPING FUEL. THE RETURN TO GSH, FUEL DUMP AND WINDSHIELD SITUATION WERE COORDINATED WITH SBN. N403W NEVER REQUESTED ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE NOR DID HE DECLARE AN EMERGENCY. N403W WAS GIVEN BACK TO SBN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
