## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON FEBRUARY 7, 2008, AIRCRAFT N554PC WAS ON A 14 CFR PART 141 TRAINING FLIGHT PERFORMING A SIMULATED SINGLE ENGINE NIGHT CIRCLING MANEUVER. UPON TURNING FINAL THE STUDENT PILOT DEVIATED FROM THE LANDING PROFILE. THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT DETERMINED THE MANEUVER WAS NOT PROCEEDING AS PLANNED, TOOK CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AT APPROXIMATELY 20 TO 30 FEET ABOVE GROUND LEVEL (AGL) AND WAS UNABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT, IN NORMAL LANDING CONFIGURATION, IMPACTED THE GRASS AREA BETWEEN RUNWAY 12R/30L AND TAXIWAY B IN A LEFT WING DOWN ATTITUDE. THE IMPACT CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AS THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED THROUGH THE GRASS, CROSSED TAXIWAY B, AND CAME TO REST NORTH OF THE TAXIWAY BETWEEN TAXIWAYS B2 AND B3. THE SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE INCLUDED A BENT LEFT WING, SEPARATION OF THE LH LANDING GEAR, NOSE DAMAGE, AND A BUCKLED RIGHT WING.
