## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATES THAT HE WAS ENROUTE TO MARYSVILLE AIRPORT AND WHEN HE FLEW INTO THE VALLEY HE COULD NOT LOCATE THE SUTTER BUTTES BECAUSE OF THE HEAVY HAZE LAYER. WHEN HE LOOKED OFF TO HIS LEFT HE OBSERVED A RUNWAY AND THOUGHT IT WAS MARYSVILLE AIRPORT. IT WAS ONLY AFTER LANDING DID HE REALIZE THAT HE HAD IN FACT LANDED AT BEALE AIR FORCE BASE. HE THEN QUICKLY TURNED AROUND AND TOOK BACK OFF THE RUNWAY WITHOUT CALLING THE TOWER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
