## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) CESSNA 172RG, N6562V WHILE PERFORMING PRACTICE LANDING/TAKE-OFF MANEUVERS EXPERIENCED HYDRAULIC SYTEM FAILURE. LANDING GEAR SYSTEM FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER CYCLING THE LANDING GEAR SUCCESSFULLY ON THREE PRIOR ATTEMPTS. ONCE FAILURE WAS DETECTED AND AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO EXTEND LANDING GEAR UNDER NORMAL OPERATING PROCEDURES THE PIC ATTEMPTED EMERGENCY PROCEDURES FOR LANDING GEAR EXTENSION USING THE MANUAL HYDRAULIC PUMP, WHICH ALSO FAILED. THE PILOT ACKNOWLEDGED LITTLE TO NO RESISTANCE FROM THE MANUAL HYDRAULIC PUMP. THE PILOT FLEW THE PATTERN TO BURN FUEL IN ORDER TO DECREASE THE AIRCRAFT WEIGHT IN PREPARATION FOR AN EMERGENCY LANDING. AT THIS TIME THE NOSE LANDING GEAR WERE DOWN AND LOCKED. BOTH MAIN LANDING GEAR WERE DANGLING, (NOT EXTENDED NOR RETRACTED). THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT PDK CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE LOWER SURFACE OF THE TAIL SECTION, RIGHT ELEVATOR AND RIGHT WINGTIP. NO INJURIES WERE SUFFERED BY THE CFI OR STUDENT PILOT.
