## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT CRASHED 3 MILES NE OF AIRPORT. DURING EMERGENCY LANDING APPROACH AIRCRAFT STRUCK POWER CABLES AND POLES, CAME TO LAND ON NOSE. THERE WAS NO AIRCRAFT FIRE AND THE FUEL TANKS WERE EMPTY. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD RUN OUT OF FUEL, HE WAS "ROCKING THE WINGS BACK AND FORTH TO TRY TO USE UP EVERY LAST DROP OF FUEL", ALSO STATED THAT THERE WERE UNEXPECTED HEAD WINDS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA08CA054](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA08CA054), Feb 9, 2008: Cessna 177RG (N52495), Tallahassee, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: Pilot's inaccurate fuel management resulting in fuel exhaustion.

## Other reports on N52495 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19790605014499I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19790605014499I), Jun 5, 1979: Cessna 177RG (N52495), Colorado Spring, CO. Student needed to add power on approach, throttle was stuck. Instructor landed in field

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
