(-23) ON FEBRUARY 13TH, 2008 AT APPROXIMATELY 9:00 AM CST THE PILOT OF N2875W, A BE-35 AIRCRAFT, DEPARTED SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS FOR BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY. APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES INTO THE FLIGHT, THE PILOT BEGAN TO NOTE CERTAIN ANOMALIES WITH THE RADIO EQUIPMENT ON BOARD THE AIRCRAFT AND DETERMINED THAT AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION HAD OCCURRED. AT THE TIME OF THIS DETERMINATION, THE PILOT WAS CONDUCTING AN IFR FLIGHT IN VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND MADE A DECISION TO NOTIFY THE KANSAS CITY AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL FACILITY OF HIS SITUATION. THE PILOT ELECTED TO RETURN TO SPRINGFIELD AND WITH LIMITED ELECTRICAL POWER REMAINING, ASKED THE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER TO ASSIST HIM BY NOTIFYING THE SPRINGFIELD AIR TRAFFIC FACILITY OF HIS INTENTIONS. THE PILOT THEN CANCELLED HIS INSTRUMENT FLIGHT PLAN AND PROCEEDED TO SPRINGFIELD WHERE HE ENTERED THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AND AFTER CIRCLING OVERHEAD THE AIRPORT, HE LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR MANUALLY AND LANDED HIS AIRCRAFT WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
