## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT WAS FLYING WITH A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR TO BECOME QUALIFIED AND RECEIVE AN ENDORSEMENT FOR TAIL WHEEL AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE INSTRUCTOR DID NOT PROVIDE INSTRUCTION DURING THE FLIGHT. WHEN THE PILOT ATTEMPTED THE APPROACH THE INSTRUCTOR APPLIED FULL RUDDER IMMEDIATELY AFTER TOUCHDOWN WHICH LED TO OVER CONTROLLING AND LOSS OF CONTROL. THE AIRCRAFT GROUND LOOPED CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR PASSENGER. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX08CA061](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08CA061), Feb 17, 2008: Piper PA-22 (N3316A), El Cajon, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of both pilots to maintain directional control during landing and the flight instructor's inadequate supervision of the flight.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
