## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON FEBRUARY 27, 2008, AT 1130 MST, AN ENSTROM 280FX, N285SH, REGISTERED TO BEACON AVIATION LLC, CALLED IN AN IN FLIGHT EMERGENCY WHEN THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ COULD NOT GET TAIL ROTOR EFFECT. TAIL ROTOR WAS NOT RESPONSIVE TO LATERAL INPUTS FROM THE PILOT. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM ERIE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, CO (KEIK) AND WAS SCHEDULED TO LAND AT THE SAME AIRPORT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME AND NO VFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE ONLY PERSON ONBOARD WAS THE PILOT, NO INJURY REPORTED. THE AIRCRAFT HAD A HARD LANDING, NO OTHER VISUAL DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
