## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AN INSTRUCTOR PILOT WAS LANDING THE PLANE ON RUNWAY 23 AT GEORGETOWN AIRPORT, GEORGETOWN, SOUTH CAROLINA WHEN THREE DEER CROSSED IN FRONT OF THE AIRPLANE. ONE OF THE DEER HIT THE AIRPLANE ON THE LEFT LANDING GEAR, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED TO THE PILOT OR INSTRUCTOR ON BOARD. CONTACTED THE AIRPORT MANAGER ABOUT CONTROL OF THE DEER AT THIS AIRPORT. THE MANAGER STATED THAT THE ATLANTA FAA OFFICE IS CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF FUNDING FOR A FENCE AT THIS AIRPORT. ALSO THE COUNTY HAS ISSUED A PERMIT FOR HUNTING DEER ON THE AIRPORT GROUNDS. THERE IS A FENCE CURRENTLY OCCUPYING 30% TO 40% OF THE AIRPORT PERIMETER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
