## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING TAKEOFF ON RUNWAY 26 AT THE NEW ALBANY AIRPORT (M72) IN NEW ALBANY MISSISSIPPI, THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN AFTER THE AIRCRAFT CLIMBED APPROXIMATELY 75 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY. THE RAPID DESCENT WHICH FOLLOWED THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN RESULTED IN A HARD LANDING AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN SLIDING AFTER THE HARD IMPACT. IT SLID OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE NOTICED A FIRE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT AFTER IT STOPPED SLIDING. THE AIRCRAFT FIRE CONSUMED APPROXIMATELY 80 PERCENT OF THE FUSELAGE, THE RIGHT WING AND VARIOUS PARTS OF THE LEFT WING. PARTS OF THE LANDING GEAR WAS SPREAD OVER THE PATH OF THE AIRCRAFT. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE FUSELAGE WAS RESTING ON THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)
