## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE PRACTICING A SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF AT KTKO, THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND DRIFTED RIGHT OF THE RUNWAY THROUGH A FENCE AND INTO A PASTURE. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, THE STUDENT PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN08CA068](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN08CA068), Mar 28, 2008: Piper PA-28-150 (N50GM), Mankato, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: the student pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the takeoff roll. Contributing factors were the fence and trees.

## Other reports on N50GM (1)

- [Incident 19890109006669I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19890109006669I), Jan 9, 1989: Piper PA28150 (N50GM), Beatrice, NE. Smoke in cabin, declared emergency. Shut off electrics, cleared. After landing found generator bearing seized.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
