## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MARCH 20, 2008 AT APPROXIMATELY 12:50 AM EDT A GRUMMAN AA-5B CLIPPED THE TOPS OF A GROUP OF TREES AT THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY 32 WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND IN GUSTY WIND CONDITIONS AT THE MARLBORO, MA AIRPORT 9B1. THE PILOT IN COMMAND WAS ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. AFTER CLIPPING THE TREE TOPS THE AIRCRAFT LOWERED ITS NOSE TOWARD THE RUNWAY AND THE PILOT RAISED THE NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE TO FLARE, THE LEFT WING DROPPED AND CAUSED THE AIRPLANE TO VEER OFF TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY LANDING ON THE TURF AREA. THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED THREE TIMES. ON THE THIRD BOUNCE THE LEFT WING IMPACTED A GROUP OF TREES WHICH CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO ROTATE AROUND AND END UP STATIONARY ON THE GROUND FACING APPROXIMATELY 180 DEGREES FROM ITS ORIGINAL DIRECTION OF LANDING. THE PILOT AND ONE PASSENGER WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE ON BOARD THE AIRCRAFT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THIS WAS HIS FIRST TIME IN MARLBORO AIRPORT (9B1). RUNWAY 32 LENGTH IS 1.699 FEET LONG.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA08CA084](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA08CA084), Mar 29, 2008: Grumman American AA5B (N333FT), Marlboro, MA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for wind gusts while on final approach.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
