## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED SEVERE TURBULANCE ON 04/04/2008 AT APPROXIMATELY 1445 CDT WHILE ENROUTE TO KTCL, A LANDING WAS MADE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. LOCAL WEATHER DATA ISSUED AT 1453 CDT INDICATED WINDS AT 25 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 33 KNOTS, 2 MILES VISIBILITY, WITH THUNDERSTORMS AND RAIN AT 2,400 FEET MSL. FOUR SUBSEQUENT LEGS WERE FLOWN WITH THE AIRCRAFT RETURNING TO KEET. ON APRIL 8TH, DAMAGE WAS NOTICED BY A FUEL TECHNICIAN AFTER A REQUEST WAS MADE TO FUEL THE AIRCRAFT FOR ANOTHER FLIGHT. THE WING SKINS WERE CREASED MID-SPAN, ADDITIONAL SKIN WRINKLES WERE NOTED ALONG THE SPAR AREAS. THE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE WAS DETERMINED TO BE SUBSTANTIAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX08LA105](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08LA105), Apr 4, 2008: Raytheon B300 (N900WP), Tuscaloosa, AL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's encounter with severe turbulence during descent into the airport environment, which resulted in an exceedence of the aircraft's design stress limit and structural damage.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
