## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) TWO FRIENDS WENT FLYING TOGETHER ON A NICE SUNDAY AFTERNOON. AFTER THE FIRST TAKEOFF AND LANDING, THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OFFERED TO ALLOW THE OTHER OCCUPANT, ALSO A RATED PILOT CURRENT IN TAILWHEEL AIRCRAFT, TO FLY THE NEXT PATTERN. THE OTHER PILOT ACCEPTED TO OFFER AND LOST CONTROL DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL. THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN CONTROL AND COMPLETE THE TAKEOFF, HOWEVER THE AIRCRAFT CAUGHT THE SNOW BANK ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF RUNWAY 17. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST INVERTED BESIDE THE RUNWAY. THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ RECEIVED A "BLACK EYE" AND THE OTHER OCCUPANT REQUIRED STITCHES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08CA153](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08CA153), Apr 6, 2008: Luscombe 8A (N2209K), Lincoln, ME, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot-rated-passenger's failure to maintain directional control during takeoff.
