## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER LANDING HE APPLIED BRAKES. THE LEFT BRAKE WASN'T WORKING WELL ENOUGH TO STOP OR SLOW ENOUGH TO TURN. HE THOUGHT IT WOULD SLOW DOWN ON ITS OWN BEFORE THE END OF RUNWAY. AS HE NEARED 1000 FT TO END OF RUNWAY HE COULD TELL IT WASN'T GOING TO SLOW SUFFICIENTLY SO HE ADDED POWER MOMENTARILY TO TAKE OFF THEN HE REALIED THAT HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OBTAIN FLYING SPEED SO HE REDUCED POWER. HE APPLIED BRAKES AGAIN AS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN. HE LEFT THE RUNWAY AND WENT INTO A DEEP WIDE DITCH AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER ON ITS BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

- [NTSB LAX08CA100](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08CA100), Apr 12, 2008: Questair Venture (N36V), Salt Lake City, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the left side master brake cylinder that led to a loss of braking capability during landing rollout. A contributing factor was the presence of a ditch next to the runway's end.
