## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 15, 2008, AT ABOUT 0820 MST, N8224Y, A PA-30, LANDED WITH GEAR UP APPROXIMATELY 12.5 MILES SE OF HOLBROOK, AZ, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND SERIOUS INJURY TO THE PILOT. POST-ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED LEFT AND RIGHT WING MAIN FUEL TANKS WERE FULL OF FUEL (25GAL) EACH, WHILE THE WING AND TIP TANKS, BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT WINGS, WERE EMPTY. THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS IN THE MAIN POSITION. FUEL LINES TO BOTH ENGINES WERE DRY, AND FUEL LINES ON BOTH ENGINES WERE DRY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX08LA107](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08LA107), Apr 15, 2008: Piper PA-30 (N8442Y), Holbrook, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation as a result of the pilot's fuel system mismanagement and incorrect positioning of the fuel selector valves.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
