## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING A FLIGHT TO THIS UNIMPROVED, BUT GRADED DIRT LANDING STRIP, THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED A SOFT SPOT IN THE OTHERWISE ACCEPTABLE LANDING AREA AND THE AIRCRAFT STARTED A TURN THAT HE COULD NOT CORRECT. THE PILOT APPLIED MAXIMUM CORRECTIVE ACTION WITHIN THE AIRCRAFT CONTROL AUTHORITY, BUT THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO TURN AND LEFT THE RUNWAY. A SMALL DITCH WAS ENCOUNTERED SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTING THE GRADED SURFACE AND THE NOSEWHEEL BROKE OFF. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST WITH THE NOSE DOWN. THE PASSENGERS AND PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT. THERE WAS NO POST CRASH FIRE AND NO INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX08CA096](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08CA096), Apr 25, 2008: Cessna T210N (N6182N), Coaldale, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control after encountering an unknown object on the dirt runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
