## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) IT APPEARS THAT THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT WHILE LANDING AT BDN ON RUNWAY 16. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, "WIND GUST BLEW AIRCRAFT OFF RUNWAY INTO SCRUB BRUSH." THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET EAST OF RUNWAY CENTERLINE, AND APPROXIMATELY 1000 FEET FROM THRESHOLD. THE RIGHT WING TIP, RIGHT AILERON, AND RIGHT ELEVATOR CONTACTED THE GROUND SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA08CA112](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA08CA112), Apr 26, 2008: Cessna 185E (N185NH), Bend, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the crosswind condition and failure to maintain directional control. Contributing to the accident was an unexpected crosswind gust.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
