## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 27 APRIL 2008 AT APPROXIMATELY 10:48, N8793W, A PIPER CHEROKEE PA28-235 TOOK OFF AND FLEW TO THE NORTH FOR 30 MINUTES THEN RETURNED TO ROCKY MOUNTAIN METROPOLITAN AIRPORT FOR A LANDING. THE PILOT WAS CLEARED TO LAND ON 29L. LANDING SEEMED NORMAL. THE WINDSOCK APPEARED TO HAVE A SLIGHT LEFT QUARTERING TAIL WIND. AFTER TOUCH DOWN AND WELL INTO THE LANDING ROLL THE AIRCRAFT VEERED HARD LEFT. THE PILOT GAVE IT HARD RIGHT RUDDER BUT THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO TURN LEFT. THE AIRCRAFT WENT OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS AND HIT A DRAINAGE GRATE CAUSING THE NOSE GEAR TO COLLAPSE. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED UP AN EMBANKMENT AND CAME TO A STOP AT THE EDGE OF BRAVO TAXIWAY. THE AIRCRAFT IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH TOE BRAKES, ONLY A HAND BRAKE. THE PILOT DIDN'T USE THE BRAKES ON LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
