## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE APPLYING FULL POWER FOR TAKEOFF AFTER APPROX. 12 TOUCH AND GO'S ON RUNWAY 04 AT KCDW (ESSEX COUNTY AIRPORT) THE RIGHT SEAT DISENGAGED AND SLID FULLY AFT. THE RIGHT SEAT WAS OCCUPIED BY THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT WHO WAS MAKING THE TAKEOFF AFTER THE TOUCH AND GO. WITH THE SEAT IN THE FULLY AFT POSITION THE PILOT COULD NOT REACH THE RUDDER OR BRAKES. HE ASKED THE STUDENT PILOT TO "TAKE IT" AND WHEN THE STUDENT DID NOT RESPOND QUICKLY ENOUGH THE PILOT CLOSED THE THROTTLE AT WHICH POINT THE AIRCRAFT WERRED AND HIT A RUNWAY LIGHT WITH THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUT. THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUT BROKE OFF THE BREAKAWAY PORTION OF THE LANDING LIGHT AND THE LIGHT THEN IMPACTED THE RIGHT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER ADJACENT TO THE FUSELAGE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP OFF THE RUNWAY. THE DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUT WAS MINIMAL. THE RIGHT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER WAS DENTED CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE RIB CLOSEST TO THE FUSELAGE. THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD NOT MOVED HIS SEAT FROM THE INITIAL TAKEOFF UNTIL THE SEAT DISENGAGED AFTER APPROXIMATELY TWELVE TOUCH AND GO'S.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
