## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08LA172](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08LA172), Apr 30, 2008: Piper PA-28-160 (N5426W), Richmond Hill, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power during cruise flight due to fuel exhaustion, and the pilot's inadequate preflight inspection.

## Other reports on N5426W (1)

- [Incident 19911204061359I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19911204061359I), Dec 4, 1991: Piper PA28160 (N5426W), Grantham, NC, Minor damage. Pilot lost directional control of aircraft on takeoff roll. Veered off runway onto soft dirt. Nose gear broke.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
