As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE OPERATING AN EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT CALLED THE COZY, THE PILOT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING 3 MILES OFF THE COAST OF JEYKLE ISLAND, GA. AN UNIDENTIFIED WITNESS HAD CALLED EMERGENCY SERVICES IN THE AREA STATING THAT HE OBSERVED AN AIRCRAFT CRASH INTO THE WATER AND THAT IT APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN ON FIRE. EXAMINATION OF THE ARICRAFT REVEALED NO EVIDENCE OF FIRE, HOWEVER EVIDENCE INDICATED THAT THE PILOT MADE A CONTROLLED, UNDER POWER LANDING IN THE WATER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA08LA096](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA08LA096), May 4, 2008: Garrett Gerald P Cozy Mark IV (N14GG), Jekyll Island, GA, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: Controlled flight into water for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
