## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE FLIGHT (CPZ 2040) REPORTED SMOKE COMING FROM THE AFT LAVATORY WHILE IN FLIGHT AT FL350 BETWEEN MINNEAPOLIS, MN AND REGINE, SK, CANADA. WHILE THE CABIN CREW WORKED TO EXTINGUISH FLAMES AND MOVE PASSENGERS TO THE FORWARD PART OF THE AIRCRAFT, THE COCKPIT CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED AT FARGO, ND. INJURIES CONSISTED OF SMOKE INHALATION RESPIRATION DIFFICULTIES BY ONE FLIGHT ATTENDANT, WHO WAS BRIEFLY HOSPITALIZED AND SOON RELEASED. THE FLIGHT WAS MET BY ARFS PROVIDED BY THE NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD UNIT AS WELL AS LOCAL POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE FBI WAS NOTIFIED AND RESPONDED. THE PASSENGERS AND CREW WERE INTERVIEWED BY THE FBI, WHO HAS CONTROL OF INVESTIGATION. THE RESULTS OF THAT INVESTIGATION ARE ON GOING. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CONSISTED OF SMOKE AND FLAME DAMAGE TO THE WASTE PAPER AND PAPER STORAGE UNIT IN THE LAVATORY. NTSB PERSONNEL PARTICIPATED IN THE INVESTIGATION AS WELL AS PERSONNEL FOR AAI.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
