## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT HE AND ANOTHER PILOT WERE PRACTICING AUTO-ROTATIONS. ON THE LAST AUTO-ROTATION HE WAS TOO LOW AND THE HELICOPTER HIT THE GROUND HARD. NO NMAC. NO FIRE. NO DAMAGE TO PERSONS AND PROPERTY ON THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW08TA137](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW08TA137), May 9, 2008: Schweizer 269D (N584PM), San Antonio, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to compensate for the excessive rate of descent on final approach. A contributing factor was the reported down draft.

## Other reports on N584PM (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20101230054229I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20101230054229I), Dec 30, 2010: Schweizer 269D (N584PM), San Antonio, TX, No damage. During cruise flight, the engine started to surge. Pilot did a precautionary landing on the highway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
