## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)N6660K WAS FINISHING WITH THE AEROBATIC PERFORMANCE AND MADE A FINAL PASS FROM EAST TO WEST ALONG THE SHOW CENTER LINE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS OBSERVED CONDUCTING RIGHT AILERON ROLLS AND GOT LOWER AND LOWER AS HE APPROACHED THE WESTERN BOUNDRY OF THE AEROBATIC BOX. THE AIRPLANE CAME OUT OF A AILERON ROLL LATE AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS STILL TURNING IN A RIGHT TURN TO ALMOST 90 DEGREES OF BANK WHEN THE RIGHT WING HIT THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT TUMBLED IN THE DIRT AREA WEST OF RUNWAY 28R. PREVIOUS TO THIS THE PILOT WAS ADVISED BY THE MODESTO AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER TO MAKE A RIGHT BASE ENTRY FOR LANDING ON RUNWAY SINCE A SCHEDULED AIRLINER WAS APPROACHING THE AIRPORT. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD TOO MUCH ENERGY TO MAKE A LANDING AT THE POINT SO HE STATED THAT HE WOULD MAKE ANOTHER LOW PASS DOWN THE SHOW LINE. ON THIS PASS THE AIRPLANE CRASHED AT THE WEST BOUNDRY OF THE AIRPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA08LA128](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA08LA128), May 10, 2008: Moravan Zlin 50LX (N6660K), Modesto, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot failed to maintain clearance from terrain during a low-altitude maneuver at an airshow. Contributing to the accident was the task overload in the increased frequency congestion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
