## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 05/21/2008 N8175H A PIPER PA-28 LOST ENGINE POWER, 10 MILES SOUTH OF SANTA MARIA (SMX) AT 4500 FEET. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ LANDED THE AIRCRAFT ON THE GRASS OVER RUN OF RWY 30 AND ROLLED UP ONTO THE RUNWAY AT SANTA MARIA 9SMX). THE AIRPORT MANAGEMENT HAD THE AIRPLANE TOWED TO AN FIXED BASE OPERATION MAINTENANCE SHOP (COASTAL VALLEY AVIATION)^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CHECKED THE AIRCRAFTS FUEL TANKS AND DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS ADEQUATE FUEL ONBOARD TO MAINTENANCE ENGINE POWER. NO VISUAL DAMAGE SEEN ON THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
