## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE STUDENT PILOT LANDED AT IWA AND WAS TOWED TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION ON THE RAMP DUE TO HIS NOT UNDERSTANDING THE RAMP GROUND HANDLERS HAND SIGNALS. APPARENTLY DURING TOWING BY THE TUG THE STEERING LIMITS WERE EXCEEDED, DAMAGING THE NOSE STRUT STEERING ARM LOCATED ON THE TOP OF THE STRUT. ONE SIDE OF THE ARM WAS BROKEN OFF THE STEERING ARM AND AS A RESULT THE RUDDER CABLES LOST SOME OF THEIR TENSION AND WHEN THE PILOT TOOK OFF THE RUDER WOULD NOT CENTER REQUIRING RUDDER INPUT TO PREVENT YAWING OF THE AIRCRAFT IN FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS LANDED AT FFZ WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
