## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT IN COMMAND WAS CONDUCTING MOUNTAIN HELICOPTER FLYING WITH A STUDENT. WHILE CLIMBING UP A SLOPE AT APPROXIMATELY 5200 FEET MSL, HE ALLOWED THE HELICOPTER TO SLOW TO A SPEED WHERE THE POWER REQUIRED EXCEEDED THE POWER AVAILABLE. THE PIC THEN TRIED TO TURN THE HELICOPTER TO THE LEFT TO FLY DOWN THE MOUNTAIN SIDE BUT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN ALTITUDE AND RECOGNIZED THIS. HE THEN ATTEMPTED TO LAND THE HELICOPTER ONTO THE TERRAIN BUT DUE TO THE ROUGHNESS, THE HELICOPTER ROLLED OVER.
