## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A 14CFR PART 91 TRAINING FLIGHT, A/C CRASHED 1 MILE WEST OF 7G0 DUE TO PROBABLE FUEL STARVATION. BOTH PILOTS ONBOARD WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED AND THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. SIGNIFICANT OBSERVATIONS OF THIS INSPECTOR: 1) FUEL WAS INSUFFICIENT FOR DURATION OF FLIGHT. 2) FLAPS WERE NOT USED DURING EMERGENCY LANDING. 3) NO SHOULDER HARNESSES WERE INSTALLED AND WOULD HAVE PREVENTED MANY OF THE MORE SERIOUS INJURIES. 4)ANGLE OF IMPACT WAS CONSISTENT WITH A STALL AND NO SPIN. ACCIDENT WAS SURVIVABLE DUE TO LOW ALTITUDE AT THE TIME OF STALL. IMPACT FORCES WOULD HAVE BEEN REDUCED IF AIRCRAFT HAD IMPACTED AT A LOWER ANGLE IN CONTROLLED FLIGHT RESULTING IN A LONGER SKID.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08LA199](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08LA199), Jun 1, 2008: Cessna 172H (N3910R), Brockport, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion as a result of the flight instructor's inadequate preflight planning.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
