## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS PLANNING ON FLYING FOR 3:30 HRS WITH 4:00 HRS OF FUEL FOR A DAY VFR. AFTER 3:30HRS, AND 5 MILES FROM DESTINATION OF AXS, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THE PILOT EXECUTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD. THE PILOT REPORTED A CRUISE CONSUMPTION OF 8GPH WHICH WAS SUPPORTED BY THE AIRCRAFT MANUFACTUER. THE AIRCRAFT HOLDS 40 GALLONS OF USABLE FUEL. INVESTIGATION INDICATES THAT THE PILOT ASKED THE FBO TO "TOP-OFF" THE FUEL TANKS BUT THAT HE DID NOT VISUALLY CONFIRM THE TANKS WERE FULL. THE CASE WAS CLOSED WITH ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
