## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF RUNWAY 18, 300 FT FROM THE APPROACH END, FACING THE APPROACH END. DEBRIS WAS IN A SMALL AREA NEAR THE FRONT OF THE AIRPLANE. THE TIGHT DEBRIS FIELD AT THE NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE AND THE MARKS ON THE GROUND INDICATE THE LEFT WING HAD IMPACTED THE GROUND AND THE LEFT MAIN STRUT BROKE ABOVE THE BRAKE CALIPER. THE WING FOLD LINKAGE ATTACHES TO BOTH WINGS AND THEY BOTH FOLDED WHEN THE LEFT WING HIT THE GROUND. THE NOSE IMPACTED THE GROUND, BREAKING ONE PROP BLADE AND SPLINTERING THE OTHER, ALL PIECES OF THE BROKEN PROP WERE WITHIN 25 FEET OF THE NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE. THE PROP DID NOT APPEAR TO BE MAKING POWER ON IMPACT. THE FUSELAGE FAILED ON IMPACT AND THE COCKPIT WAS COMPLETELY OPEN. THE ENGINE WAS UPSIDE DOWN AND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COWLING HAD IMPACT DAMAGE. THE TAIL OF THE AIRPLANE HAD NO VISIBLE DAMAGE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON IT’S RIGHT SIDE FACING THE IMPACT POINT AND THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY. AMMENDED 08/04/08 BECAUSE NTSB CHANGED ACCIDENT NUMBER FROM NYC08CA211.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08FA211](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08FA211), Jun 9, 2008: Avid Mark IV Aerobat (N652DM), Niceville, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of control during landing for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
