## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N4385W WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND AT I74 (URBANA GRIMES FIELD) ON RUNWAY 20. AFTER TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED LEFT OFF THE RUNWAY STRIKING A RUNWAY SIGN WITH THE LEFT WING LEADING EDGE, AND 3 TAXI LIGHTS WITH THE UNDERSIDE OF THE FUSELAGE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN THE GRASS BEYOND THE FIRST TAXIWAY. THE PILOT STATED THE FOLLOWING: "AFTER TOUCHDOWN ON ALL 3 WHEELS I APPLIED BRAKES LIGHTLY AND HEARD THE TIRES SQUEALLING, THE PLANE BEGAN TO VEER TO THE LEFT. I ASSUMED THE LEFT BRAKE WAS LOCKED UP AND I RELEASED BOTH BRAKES, BUT SQUEALLING CONTINUED AND I REALIZED I WAS GOING OFF RUNWAY SO I BRAKED HARD ON BOTH BRAKES AND TRIED TO AVOID HITTING OBJECTS WITH NOSE WHEEL OR FUSELAGE."

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
