## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE SPREADING GRANULAR CROP ADDITIVES TO A FARMERS FIELD AT LOW ALTITUDE, THE ENGINE QUIT SUDDENLY. THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT IN THE FIELD EVEN THOUGH THE SPEED WAS HIGH. THE FIELD WAS SOFT AND THE AIRCRAFT SUNK IN AND FLIPPED OVER. THE FORCE OF THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPING OVER TORE THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT OFF AND THE COCKPIT CONTINUED TO TUMBLE AND CARTWHEEL NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE COMING TO REST. THE PILOT ESCAPED WITH NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX08LA177](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08LA177), Jun 13, 2008: Grumman-Schweizer G-164B (N48571), Wilder, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power as a result of failure of the supercharger. Contributing to the accident was the lack of suitable terrain for the forced landing.

## Other reports on N48571 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19940719019279A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19940719019279A), Jul 19, 1994: Scwzer G164B (N48571), Wilder, ID, Substantial damage. Left brake failed landing. Ground looped to avoid ditch and dirt bank. Left brake master cyl failed due corrosion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
