## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N913QS, WAS ENROUTE FORM ASPEN, CO TO DES MOINES, IA, AT FLIGHT LEVEL 390. THE CREW REPORTED TO AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL THAT THEY SMELLED SMOKE IN COCKPIT. AN EMERGENCY DESCENT WAS INITIATED AND THE AIRCRAFT DIVERTED TO OMAHA, NE. THE CREW LANDED AND TAXIED TO THE RAMP. THE REPORTED THAT THERE WAS NO SMOKE VISIBLE UNTIL THE PASSENGERS WERE DEPLANED, THEN A HAZE DEVELOPED. THE CREW COMPLETED THE SHUTDOWN WITHOUT INCIDENT. DUNCAN AVATION MECHANICS, FROM LINCOLN, NE, FOUND THAT THE AFT AIR CYCLE MACHINE WAS SEIZED. THE AIR CYCLE MACHINE WAS REPLACED WITH A REPAIRED UNIT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
