## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS GOING TO FLY THE AIRCRAFT ON A TRIP DURING THE WEEK OF 06/16/2008. SO HE WANTED TO DO 3 APPROACHES BEFORE HIS TRIP, ON HIS FINAL APPROACH HE STATED THAT HE WAS GOING FAST AND HE DIDN'T KNOW WHY. HE APPLIED THE SPEED BRAKES BUT WAS STILL GOING FAST, HE WAS THINKING ABOUT DOING A GO AROUND AT THIS TIME THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND AND THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED ON TO THE RUNWAY. DURING THE APPROACH THE GEAR WARNING WAS GOING OFF BUT THE PILOT IGNORED IT. AFTER TOUCHDOWN THE PILOT SELECTED GEAR DOWN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI08CA163](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI08CA163), Jun 14, 2008: Mooney M20K (N252AD), New Philadelphi, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to extend the landing gear prior to landing.

## Other reports on N252AD (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20051212033369I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20051212033369I), Dec 12, 2005: Mooney M20K (N252AD), New Philadelphi, OH, Minor damage. (-23) Pilot landed gear up after returning for landing after a gas cap was noticed as being missing after takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
