## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 06-15-2008, A SPORT PILOT AIRCRAFT, FLOWN BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS FLYING IN THE CREEK BED AT SANDY CREEK WITH ONE PASSENGER, WHEN CONTACT WAS MADE WITH LOW POWER LINES ACROSS THE CREEK. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED AND THE PILOT RECEIVED SERIOUS INJURIES. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS FLYING INTO THE SUN, AND ROUNDED A BEND AND DID NOT SEE THE WIRES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA108](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA108), Jun 15, 2008: Powrachute Pegasus (N9037V), Sunrise Beach, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain altitude/clearance from a powerline while maneuvering. A contributing factor was the powerline.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
