## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT TRIED TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR BY THE NORMAL MEANS. THE GEAR STARTED TO EXTEND BUT LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT EXTEND ANY FURTHER. AFTER COMMUNICATING WITH THE DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE AT EXECUTIVE BEECHCRAFT, THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO EXTEND THE GEAR UTILIZING THE EMERGENCY EXTENSION SYSTEM. HOWEVER, THE GEAR WOULD NOT EXTEND ANY FURTHER. SUBSEQUENTLY THE DIRECTOR MAINTENANCE FOR EXECUTIVE BEECHCRAFT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, STATED IN AN EMAIL THAT THE EMERGENCY GEAR EXTENSION HANDLE WAS ENTANGLED IN THE CARPET. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ATTRIBUTED THE FAILURE OF THE EMERGENCY GEAR EXTENSION SYSTEM TO THE CARPET ENTANGLEMENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
