## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N455YV, DHC-8-802, BEING OPERATED AS MESA AIRLINES FLIGHT 7177, WAS ENROUTE FROM RAPID CITY, SD TO DENVER, CO, WHEN THE CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY, AND DIVERTED TO SCOTTSBLUFF, NE. THE CREW SHUTDOWN THE NR 2 ENGINE DUE TO THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT BEING ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. COMPANY MECHANICS PREPARED THE AIRCRAFT FOR FERRY FLIGHT TO GRAND JUNCTION, CO, WHERE MECHANICS FOUND SEVERAL WIRES CHAFED. THE CHAFED WIRES WERE REPLACED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
