## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)ON JUNE 23, 2008 AT APPROXIMATELY 21:30 Z N4048J DEPARTED THE NK17 AIRPORT (PRIVATE) FOR A LOCAL FLIGHT. AT APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET OF ALTITUDE, THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE SUFFERED A LOSS OF POWER FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. CASE AND CYLINDERS OF THE ENGINE WERE FOUND INTACT AND FUNCTIONAL. FUEL SYSTEM WAS CHECKED W/O ANY REMARKABLE FINDINGS. AIRCRAFT WAS FUELED WITH AUTOMOTIVE GASOLINE. CARBURETOR AND MAGS REMOVED FOR FURTHER EXAMINATION, BUT APPEARED TO BE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY ON THE ENGINE. EXAMINATION OF SPARK PLUGS INDICATED NORMAL OPERATION. UNABLE TO RULE OUT POSSIBILITY OF FUEL SHUTOFF AS BEING IN THE WRONG POSITION (I.E. SHUTOFF). THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT CARBURETOR ICE WAS A FACTOR, AND CAN NOT BE EXCLUDED. WEATHER CONDITIONS AT THE TIME OF THE FLIGHT INCLUDED VERY HIGH HUMIDITY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
