## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS OPERATING FROM A CLOSED GRAVEL ROAD (NOBLE RD.) WITH ANOTHER PILOT IN THE AERIAL APPLICATION OF A DRY FERTILIZER TO A MINT FIELD. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT THE PILOT HAD ALREADY DISPENSED HIS LOAD OF DRY FERTILIZER AND WAS IN A HOLDING PATTERN WAITING FOR THE OTHER AIRCRAFT TO CLEAR THE ROAD THEY WERE OPERATING FROM. WITNESSES STATED THE SUBJECT WAS "SLOW FLYING AT 500' INTO THE WIND (ESTIMATED TO BE 15 MPH) WHEN THE LEFT WING STALLED AND HE ENTERED A SPIN TO THE LEFT AND DID NOT RECOVER". THE PRIMARY WITNESS WAS THE SECOND PILOT INVOLVED IN THE AERIAL APPLICATION. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT HE WAS LOCATED IN N81541 A M-18A PREPARING TO TAKE OFF AGAIN. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE EARTH IN A DRY HAY FIELD WITH A NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE WITH VERY LITTLE LATERAL MOVEMENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX08LA193](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX08LA193), Jun 24, 2008: Snow S2C (N1661S), Glenn's Ferry, ID, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: Failure of the pilot to maintain an adequate airspeed resulting in an aerodynamic stall/spin while maneuvering.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
