## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PURPOSE OF THE DUAL INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT WAS TO PREPARE THE STUDENT FOR THE PRIVATE PILOT CHECKRIDE. A SIMULATED SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF WAS COMMENCED FROM RUNWAY 24 WITH THE STUDENT AT THE CONTROLS. AS THE PITCH ATTITUDE INCREASED THE CFI SEATED IN THE RIGHT SEAT STATED THAT HIS SEAT SLID BACK AND HE GRABBED THE YOKE. THE AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE, DEPARTED THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, HIT SOFT GROUND AND FLIPPED OVER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08LA228](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08LA228), Jun 25, 2008: Cessna 172M (N13105), Toms River, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the pilot's seat to engage or remain engaged due to the improper inspection of the worn seat tracks.

## Other reports on N13105 (1)

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
