## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)AN EYE WITNESS STATED THAT ON A TOUCH AND GO, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ON A 2990 FOOT RUNWAY WITH APPROXIMATELY 1000 FEET OR LESS REMAINING AND ATTEMPTED A GO AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT WAS UNABLE TO GAIN ENOUGH ALTITUDE TO CLEAR THE TREES JUST OFF THE AIRPORT PROPERTY AND CRASHED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC08FA237](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC08FA237), Jul 3, 2008: Piper PA-28-161 (N9888K), Middletown, RI, substantial damage, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The flight instructor's failure to initiate a go-around during a high approach, and his inadequate remedial action during an attempted touch-and-go.

## Other reports on N9888K (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19780619046669I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19780619046669I), Jun 19, 1978: Piper PA28161 (N9888K), Leawood, KS, Minor damage. Pilot overran departure end of runway due to excessive speed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
