## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 6, 2008 AT OR AROUND 12:40 PM LOCAL TIME, N7360J, A PIPER PA-28-140, PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CRASHED APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES NORTH OF GREEN RIVER, UT ALONG THE GREEN RIVER WHILE ATTEMPTING A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING. THE PILOT SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES AND ONLY THE PASSENGER WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS. THE PILOT REMOVED THE PASSENGER FROM THE AIRCRAFT BEFORE THE AIRCRAFT CAUGHT ON FIRE WHICH RESULTED IN A WILDFIRE IN THE CANYON ALONG THE GREEN RIVER. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE LOCATED BY A RIVER RAFTING GROUP THAT WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE TWO MEN TO THE BANK OF THE RIVER. THEY WERE THEN MOVED BY BOAT AWAY FROM THE FIRE AND RELOCATED DOWN THE RIVER WHERE THEY STAYED OVERNIGHT WITH INDIVIDUALS FROM THE RIVER PARTY. THE NEXT MORNING, THE GROUP WAS FOUND BY ANOTHER RIVER RAFTING PARTY THAT HAD A SATELLITE PHONE WHICH WAS USED TO CALL FOR HELP. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE AIR LIFTED OUT OF THE AREA AND TAKEN TO THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH HOSPITAL. BOTH THE PILOT AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE.
