## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON ENTERING THE TRAFFIC PATTERN FOR RUNWAY 28, AT C29, THE PILOT STATED THAT HE RAN ALL MENTAL CHECKLISTS AND THOUGHT HE HAD PLACED THE GEAR HANDLE IN THE DOWN POSITION; AS HE NORMALLY DOES THIS AT SPECIFIC POINTS WITHIN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN. THE PILOTS STATED THAT HE MAY HAVE INCORRECTLY MOVED THE GEAR LEVER, AS A RESULT OF AIRCRAFT DESIGN. HE DOES NOT RECALL DOING THE FINAL CHECKLIST, THEREBY NOT VERIFYING GEAR POSITION. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS FIXATED ON DOING A SPOT LANDING, AND WAS MAKING NECESSARY POWER ADJUSTMENT TO MAINTAIN APPROPRIATE AIRSPEED AND FLIGHT PATH.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
