## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) A CERTIFICATED PILOT OBSERVED AND REPORTED THE FOLLOWING: NORMAL TAKEOFF WITH A VX BEST ANGLE OF CLIMBOUT. AT APPROXIMATELY TRAFFIC PATTERN ALTITUDE, AIRPLANE WAS OBSERVED TO STEEPEN IN CLIMB. THE ENGINE NOISE SUDDENLY STOPPED AND AIRPLANE ENTERED INTO A LEFT WING OVER. DURING DESCENDING RECOVERY FROM THE WING OVER, AIRPLANE CRASHED INTO TREES. POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE FOAM AIR INLET FILTER APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN DAMAGED FROM A PREVIOUS INDUCTION FIRE. SMALL PARTICLES OF THE FILTER WERE FOUND IN THE FUEL INJECTOR SERVO. THE SERVO IS BEING FURTHER EVALUATED BY THE NTSB.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
